jen c.’s ~ Solargraphy Show at The Grover Gallery

~ the tilde is a mark of approximation, a sign that something is about, around, or beyond what can be exactly named. it suggests a wave, a vibration, a resonance, something that moves but cannot be held still. in mathematics it means almost equal to. in language it softens meaning. in code it points towards home.

using 30 La Croix cans with tiny holes, photosensitive paper and time (June-September, 2025), jen’s images reveal a reality that our senses normally cannot perceive. this exhibit gathers images that lean into that space of uncertainty. they are not fixed records but traces, gestures, and signals, marks that hover at the edge of perception, reminding us that what we see is always only part of the story.

jen lives in the PNW with a realization of how very little we can sense or know. she takes photographs with a La Croix can with a tiny hole, welcoming the surprises of this slow, unpredictable way of seeing. it’s how she moves through the world, with curiosity and openness to what might emerge. in her spare time, she curates a virtual gallery of Pinsta pinhole photos @pinstafanatics, a community of cloud lovers @porttownsendcloudcollective, doodles @thedogaze, and dreams up projects through Raw Art Collective. Recently her pinhole photos have been featured at Jeannette Best Gallery, Unique Photo, Blue Sky Gallery, and in Shots magazine.
