Herman James
Artist Bio & Description: Herman James’ paintings are influenced by place, where people and nature mix in powerful surreal imagery. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon the artist now lives in Port Townsend after living and working and showing in the Eastern U.S. and in the EU. This emerald world, the islands set in the Salish Sea, the diverse peoples living here have entered his art. In Portland, James has shown with the Laura Russo Gallery and with The Significant Form in Seattle. The artist’s work is held in many private collections and is also held in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art, the L.A. County Museum of Art and the Hallie Ford Museum.
