Brighid Grahan Kennedy

Artist Bio/Description: I am a Port Townsend based oil painting oil painting artist. As a fifth generation Washingtonian, I am deeply rooted in the Pacific Northwest ~ forever in awe of our unique landscape of mountains, forests and islands. These features have inspired landscape paintings where I enjoy recreating the colors of our ever changing skies over the Olympics, Cascades and Salish Sea.

Influenced by how synesthesia affects how I see concepts, dreams and memories in my head; I often use geometric patterns to explore and share them in the outer world. By doing this, I get to combine science and art to better understand my mind as I decode and understand the visual language of synesthesia.

Painting on wood panels and canvas, I enjoy choosing colors that create energetic harmony and tension. Most paintings includes handmade paint created with dry pigments mixed with linseed or walnut oil. This technique encourages unexpected color variations while grounding my practice in the old tradition of oil painters.

In my studio you’ll see how to use dry pigments to create oil paint, see oil paintings completed and in process and be able to check out my silversmithing studio where I turn Sterling Silver, fossils and gemstones into beautiful statement rings.

I studied at Seattle University and earned a BA in Visual Arts. My work is currently on display at Zee Tai Collective and has also been exhibited at Aurora Loop Gallery, Summer House Design, Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, Melito Gallery, and Velocity.
