John Holm
Artist Bio & Description: John is inspired by painters like George Inness and early California Tonalists. In this tradition, he uses a limited palette and less detail, which lends itself to scenes that are sometimes nostalgic, sometimes moody. He loves atmospheric scenes of dusk and moonlight that invite calm and contemplation. That time of day that seems to push aside the busyness of the day and imparts a peaceful emotion. He doesn’t aim to paint what he sees, but rather what the scene says to him. His work captures a certain harmony between the vastness and beauty of the natural world and our experience of this as human beings.
John has a Fine Arts Degree from Art Center College of Design and resides in a 1890 church with his wife Nancy.
