Radha Newsom

Artist Bio & Description: Radha Newsom’s first encounter with willow basketry was with a few lessons from a group of Roma gypsy people while visiting Echire, France in 1997. Radha trained with renowned U.S. basket weavers including Jo Ann Hart, Katherine Lewis, and Maria Bullock. She has always loved the function and form of baskets. Hunting for forage materials and growing willow is half the joy of the art form, keeping her connected to the seasons and to place.Radha’s baskets are from traditional French and English designs, with the added flare of natural colors inspired by willow stock from Katherine Lewis’s farm.
