Laurie Stacy-Dent
Artist Bio/Description: Laurie Dent works at the intersection of craft, history, and reinvention. A multidisciplinary artist, her practice spans origami, macramé, off-loom bead weaving, and assemblage. Her current work includes handcrafted tissue and crepe paper botanicals, intricate ribbon cockades and coquettes fashioned from exquisite trims, and figurative sculptures inspired by nineteenth-century German spun cotton.
Working from her expansive pole-barn studio, Laurie maintains a vast archive of reclaimed materials and vintage finds. Deeply informed by traditional handcraft yet guided by a collector’s eye, her art centers on transformation—elevating the overlooked, refining the ordinary, and turning “just okay” into something extraordinary. In her hands, humble materials are given new presence, new history, and new life.
