Developing your own black-and-white film sounds like it should require a darkroom, a chemistry degree, and a lot of money. It doesn't. By the end of this one-day workshop, you'll know how to develop and scan your own film using simple, affordable methods you can keep using at home for good.
Led by Martin Vanners (NL), whose thrifted-camera adventures, including developing a mystery roll from a 1929 camera featured by Bored Panda, have inspired thousands to fall in love with film, you'll spend the morning shooting with one of our rescued 35mm point-and-shoots (or bring your own thrifted find, or any 35mm camera), then spend the afternoon learning the part that actually sticks: how to develop your black-and-white film and scan your negatives yourself.
No jargon, no f-stops to memorize. Just load some film, shoot without overthinking it, and by the end of the day you'll be able to develop and scan a roll on your own, a real, useful skill, not just a fun afternoon.
No experience necessary. We'll provide everything you need, whether you're rediscovering film or trying it for the first time.

Refund Policy: Full refunds are available until September 15, 2026, or if the class minimum is not met. No refunds will be issued after that date due to the cost of materials and Martin’s international travel. You’re welcome to transfer your session(s) to another person at any time, switch sessions (depending on enrollment), or receive a credit for a future Raw Art Collective workshop. Just email us to arrange a transfer, credit, or refund.
*Comparable film development workshops in Seattle run $875. As far as we know, this is the only one on the Olympic Peninsula, priced so it's actually something you can just decide to do.
