Dana Weir
Dana’s work has been exhibited in juried and invitational shows throughout the Pacific Northwest region. She began her artistic career in Portland, where she lived and studied for a decade before moving to Port Townsend, WA. In August of 2022 Dana’s work was featured in a two-person show at Northwind’s Jeanette Best Gallery in Port Townsend. She anticipates her next exhibit in a group show at the Grover Gallery in September, 2025. Dana enjoys living on the Olympic Peninsula and exploring many urban and wild environments around the Puget Sound region. In addition to being a studio artist, she works as an art educator for several schools and organizations, including Swan School, the Clemente Course, and Northwind Art School.
During this studio tour, Dana will have a selection of work on display from her "Seed Lexicon" collection. When describing this work, Dana explains that "...my impulse is to dream up a new language, a language of botanical forms and luminous objects. In these works of art, there are many ways to explore the idea of language. Seeds form their own script, hovering over a page from an outdated dictionary. Forgotten and embedded objects form a new truth, a language of poetry and prayer."
